Queensland State Titles

Last weekend we saw a number of Mackay Cycling Club members compete in the State Individual Time Trial Championships and the State Road Race Championships. Riders competing over the weekend were Michael Sleeman, Tim Ffrost, Brendon Brauer, Nixon Brauer, Aram Drake, Alex Bogna and Michael Cheesman. 

Saturday afternoon saw the boys partake in a gruelling out and back time trial course. For those competing across the 20km distance it consisted of 232m of elevation whilst tackling strong crosswinds and extremely dry conditions. The 31km course consisted of 375m of elevation. 

Alex Bogna was first off the ramp for the Mackay team achieving a cracking result of 3rd in the under 19 category which would be the first of many medals to come.  

We saw Michael Sleeman achieve Gold in M2, Brendon Brauer Gold in M3, Alex Bogna Bronze in U19, Nixon Brauer Bronze U23, Michael Cheesman 5th in M5 & Aram Drake 7th in M4.

Michael Sleeman posted the quickest time across all grades for the ITT.

Sunday brought another day of results with Aram Drade, Tim Ffrost, Brendon Brauer, Michael Sleeman and Alex Bogna undertaking in the road race. 

Michael Sleeman and Tim Ffrost were first up in M2 with Mike getting on the the podium again coming second in the 120km race. Tim Ffrost not far behind coming in 5th. Bogna was next on the podium taking out 3rd in the 91km under19 road race. Brendon Brauer would finish off the weekend of racing with another gold medal in M3.
